Things to Do While in Rhyl

Rhyl Beach

The beach as well as the obvious attractions of sand castle making, offers excellent fishing opportunities where it's possible to catch from a variety of fish including Bass, Mackeral, Plaice and Whiting.

The harbour also offers several sea fishing excursions. Genesis Marine Services, Rhyl Harbour, Rhyl, LL18 5AX  being one company available.

Marine Lake

Wellington Road, Rhyl. LL18 1EG

Right alongside the River Clwyd estuary is the Marine Lake, which is the only saltwater lake in Wales.  There is a one mile walk around the perimeter of the lake, which is the best way to witness and experience the resident wildlife.  The path is a tarmac surface and easily accessible by everyone. 

Brickfield Pond

Wellington Road, Rhyl. LL18 1AQ

Brickfield Pond is a local nature reserve popular for a range of recreational activities, including a 1km circular route of the pond.  The site was once a clay pit, which was later filled in to create the pond we see today. It is a great place to feed the ducks, and spot mallards, mute swans, and moor hens. You may also occasionally see king fisher, grey heron, and sand martin.

Dyserth Waterfall

Waterfall Road, Dyserth. LL18 6ET

Dyserth waterfall, where the Afon (river) Ffyddion falls some 70 feet on its way to the River Clwyd is a small village on the outskirts of Rhyl. Legend has it that medieval walls housed a giant water wheel, powered by Rhaeadr Dyserth, and several mills popped up along the river in years to follow.
